A lot of promising substances have little to no research on them and pharmaceutical companies typically don't bother pursuing them unless they've been proven to work, which is a chicken and egg thing. FAAH inhibitors have a lot of potential. There was one clinical trial involving BIA 10-2474, and a person died so they halted it. It's not clear why or how the person died, only that they did during the trial, which subsequently shut it down.

I wonder if AI will be able to solve this problem in the future. There's a lot of data on the human body and if AI can simulate it then it can also simulate potential drugs and assess their efficacy and side effects.
